3rd Annual Memorial Day Procession

Vintage_Patriotic_Art_Card_Memorial_Day-027

The purpose of this annual program is to honor fallen veterans and raise awareness of the original traditions of Memorial Day.  The Friends of Evergreen have created a dignified event with participants such as the our local veterans, the Woodfords VFW Color Guard, a symbolic black riderless horse, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, neighborhood girls as flower girls, Claddagh Mohr bagpipers, City Councilors, and our local historian Herb Adams.  The crowds along the route (Stevens Avenue from Deering High School to the chapel in Evergreen) increase from year to year as community involvement and appreciation continues to grow.
